MSG aired this Jeremy Lin fortune cookie sign on Wednesday, in light of the Knicks winning their seventh consecutive game with Lin as point guard. It seems to walk the line between harmless and racially offensive, but demonstrates how the media feels the need to remind us that Jeremy Lin is indeed an Asian American playing in the NBA. Just as the racial identities of the other players aren’t mentioned as merit to their teams’ success, much less referred to in poor taste, Jeremy Lin’s racial identity shouldn’t be played up to that extent to simply humor viewers.
